In
1903 a canal was dredged at a low point between harbours
so as to make a shorter, and safer, route for the S.S.
Iroquois through the Gulf Islands. In the 1950's a bridge
was built across the canal once again joining the two land
masses. Today many small craft use the canal to go from Bedwell
Harbour, on the south side, to Port Browning, seen
here at the north end of the canal. On the left is Sharks
Cove.
